The cut-up method is not only a literary technique, wherein one cuts up one’s own writing and/or the writing of authors one admires, rearranges the pieces randomly, and reassembles them, creating a new passage that often says wondrous things… the cut-up method can also be used as a tool for divination. One method Katelan Foisy and Vanessa Sinclair have co-created is utilizing cut-ups with tarot… in this way cut-ups are drawn for each card, thereby further describing the direction and intent of each of the cards in a reading, helping the diviner and divined to more accurately interpret its meaning, adding layers upon layers to an already magical experience/ expression… The tarot deck picture was created by Salvador Dali.
